Key Challenges – Looking for that New Career

Are you worried about the potential challenges that could come up when you apply for new jobs?  What about the dreaded interview process?  There are going to be a lot of challenges that you face when moving to a new career or applying for a job for the first time. What happens is truly about how you tackle the challenges or if you stand strong and overcome them.

There are a whole line of reasons or obstacles that you will find in yourself to not take that next step or apply for that job. You may just not feel secure you meet the qualifications 100% (you don’t need to). You may not know where to start with the application process – resume, cover letter, online application, the need for assessments. You could have doubts about your abilities and skills. You may not feel you have the skills to show you are unique. There are many more than listed here, and that is ok. We need to recognize them to overcome them.

So where do you start? You just start. Start by aligning yourself with a career you will love – what are the titles that go along with it?  Now start looking at job postings.  You never need to have 100% of the requirements, but likely will need about 60% or some experiences and skills to show why you deserve this job.  You need a great resume and cover letter that stands out showing your uniqueness and skillsets without being too flashy.  Understanding the online interview and in person interview and how to manage both are key these days.  Most companies are doing phone or online first interviews to weed out applicants before doing in person. You should practice your confidence skills with family, friends, and your coach so you rock both the phone / online and in person interview. Practice does help!
