Are you a new or seasoned leader who helps out everyone, feels good about leading your team, but who feels like you lack the same support?

Leaders who have coaches, mentors, or community around them feel supported, included, heard by others at their level, love to learn and grow, and are able to lead more effectively without as much stress or burnout as others. Why? Because you need the support as much as your employees do. You are human after all.

Burnout and stress are huge factors when it comes to being a leader, manager, supervisor or lead hand. You have a lot of expectations put on yourself and by others, some of which may seem like impossible tasks. However, there are tools and tricks out there to help you.

– Have you considered taking care of yourself first? Think exercise (you do have time and can make this happen), and good nutrition as a start. After speaking with your medical practitioner, consider making small steps in these areas. If you take a giant leap, although some are successful, we find most are not. Small habit changes are best when trying to kill those bad habits or starting new and different routines.

– Ask for help. Yes, even as leaders we can ask for help. Leaders should have little in their specialist bucket that someone else on their team does not know how to do. Why? So you can lead, and also recharge when you are on vacation without the worry of no one doing parts of your job when you are not available.

-Reduce all unnecessary meetings and reports. Not only does this benefit you, but your teams time and energy as well. You can then all focus on what is really important.

– Join a leadership community to build your network, share wins and challenges and share ideas. You are in luck! We have one. https://amplifyingleadership.ca/a-l-community-info

– Delegate. If you have an employee who you want to grow, but there is little room for that right now, then allow them to help you with a project, or part of a project. This not only helps you out, but also allows them to learn and grow – and possibly will help you with retention too.

– Take a break. Have your lunch break, go for a short walk when teams are on coffee breaks. They need it and so do you, so take them.

-Get yourself a mentor or coach. Having this can help you keep on track, stay motivated, and hold you accountable to your life and career goals. You are in luck again! That is just what we do. Contact me for more information. tara@twinlifecoaching.ca
