When will this Covid virus take a hike? How do I cope with being locked away in my house under lockdowns and stay-at-home orders? How on earth do I meet someone? How can I socialize? How can I be happier during this pandemic?
Any of those questions go through your mind? I bet more than 1 does on a regular basis. Where I am, we have endured well over a year of Covid and are well into the 3rd wave. I, like everyone else, need to continue to be diligent and practice social distancing, wear masks and stay home. Some of our clients ask us how to cope during these strange times. There are several ways to be social, it just takes doing something inside and “outside of the box”. However, always remember to follow all your laws, protocols, regional rules, etc.
We can get stuck in our heads and think there is no hope, feel completely isolated, bored and demotivated, so here are a few things you CAN do to feel better, exercise, and socialize safely.
1 – Get outside! Even if you go just in your yard or out on your front stoop, fresh air does us all good. And who knows, maybe a neighbour will walk by!
2 – Say hi to those who do walk by you while you take in the air outside. Too many people are afraid to say hi, but if you are well distanced, you can easily do it…or even wave and smile. It will make someone’s day (and maybe yours).
3 – Go for a walk. If you encounter people on the sidewalk, be sure to provide the necessary safe distance and wear a mask. You can still talk to those on your walk too. Say hi! We all need social interaction so start up a small conversation. Say something about the weather, their pet, etc. Just keep it friendly and keep your distance.
4 – Pay It Forward! Going to get coffee at the drive through? Why not pay for the order behind you? That person will be happy and may pay it forward to the people behind them. A simple way for you to feel good and make someone else happy too!
5 – Social media addict? You can socialize there too! Join a group where you actually can talk with others or start your own!
6 – Join an online book club! This is a great way to get some reading in and enjoy the conversation (and video) of others. Check your favourite social media sites for clubs you may enjoy.
7 – Video chat! Do not be afraid of your hair looking bad – just let people see you! People are craving this as they cannot necessarily hug or visit. This is a great way to feed that need.
There are a lot of ways to feel better and to socialize in a different way. Need more help or are struggling with Covid Fatigue, Covid Stress or other concerns? We can help. Reach out today and book your free 15 mins consult. www.twinlifecoaching.ca or email at email@example.com.
